Club Committees
Community Service Committee Objective: To improve the quality of life of community. Analyze the needs of the community and implements projects to improve the community. Projects that improve the environment, conservation, public and business affairs, and community safety fall under this committee.
International Relations Committee Objective: To foster Kiwanis values worldwide by providing assistance to less developed nations and their peoples. Projects include the Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) and Save Old Spectacles (SOS).
Major Emphasis Committee
Young Children Priority One Objective: To improve the quality of life for children of the community ages prenatal to six. Projects focus on safety and pediatric trauma, maternal and infant health, child care and development, and parent education and support.
Membership Committee Objective: Oversees all aspects of membership development including annual assessments of Club quality, ongoing recruitment of members, review of membership proposals and submission of recommendations for membership. Devises plans for new member orientation and induction and recommends changes in Club operations to keep all members involved in Club activities.
Human and Spiritual Values Committee Objective: The Human and Spiritual Values Committee focuses on issues involving ethics, values, and family. To promote development and the exercise of human and spiritual values. In a non-denominational way work with leaders and groups to create greater individual and public consciousness of the importance of human, spiritual, and religious values.
Sponsored Youth Committee Objective: To improve the quality of life for children of the community through the participation of the Club's Key Club.
Our Club has established a Key Club at Santa Susana High School, which meets on Mondays at 12:15. The Sponsored Youth Committee is responsible for providing guidance and assistance to the Key Club in their endeavors and to act as a liaison between the Key Club and the Kiwanis Club of Santa Susana.
Youth Services Committee Objective: The Youth Services Committee researches and implements projects that serve youth, ages six and above. Areas of concern include social and interactive needs of youth, development of self-esteem and character, career guidance, and funding of education. Our Club also sponsors the High Adventure Post 2620. The Youth Services Committee is responsible for providing guidance and assistance to the High Adventure Post in their endeavors and to act as a liaison between the Post and the Kiwanis Club of Santa Susana.
Club Administration Committee Objective: The Club Administration Committee oversees Club meeting arrangements by providing the most effective Club meeting possible. Areas of responsibility include arranging for meeting Programs and speakers, house arrangements, and interclub relations.
Public Relations Committee Objective: The Public Relations Committee works to ensure adequate recognition of the Club’s activities, elections, and anniversaries by providing the news media with news releases and story suggestions. Committee is also responsible for the production of the Club’s newsletter.
Kowchip Bingo Committee Objective: The Kowchip Bingo Committee works to ensure the Club’s major fund raising event is coordinated with the Simi Valley Days activities. Responsibilities include coordination and preparation of site, acquiring sponsors, coordination of the printing of deeds and posters, coordination of necessary advertising, and distribution of materials to membership.
